It is time to reduce business practices which destroy natureValues20 (V20), as a G20 engagement group of value experts and practitioners organized under the Sherpa Track, established the V20 2022 Communique comprising four main values to face global challenges.
"The V20 communique is the result of the work of dozens of experts around the world," 2022 V20 Co-Sherpa Alissa Wahid stated at the V20 2022 Summit here on Friday.
The four main values in the communique comprised the nature, economy, welfare, and society.
While making policies in the future, the G20 leaders have to pay attention to these values, the 2022 V20 Co-Sherpa stated.
"Do not pursue economic growth by destroying nature. It is time to reduce business practices that destroy nature," she remarked.
Furthermore, several initiatives to improve attention to parents and caregivers, strengthen family education, foster tolerance, as well as bolster harmony in diversity will be carried out after the V20 Summit, she noted.
"We will strengthen cooperation on everything related to those values," she said.
In addition, the V20 will keep encouraging the realization of targets of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Wahid noted.
"Regarding the G20 (members), we would like to remind (them) that to advance the economy, we must not abandon these noble values, including the ones related to the people's welfare," she stated.
She also emphasized that the society should not be polarized, so there should not be political interests that can disrupt the social order and harmony.
The 2022 V20 Summit, themed "Values at the Center," was held on October 20-21, 2022, at Green School, Badung District, Bali Province.
Furthermore, regarding the economy value, the engagement group underlined economic recovery and sustainable growth.
Thus, it recommended world leaders to promote inclusiveness, interconnectedness, and value-based business strategies while enhancing empowerment and collaboration among stakeholders.
In addition, the V20 highlighted the urgency to address the systemic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on various welfare issues.
Meanwhile, concerning the society value, the V20 emphasized that economic growth and prosperity is impossible to be achieved without the involvement of all parties, including the community.
