The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) unveiled the latest version of the Infobmkg application to support the G20 Summit on November 15-16, 2022, in Bali.
"This cannot be separated from BMKG's goal to take part in the success of the G20 implementation," Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati remarked here on Monday.
The main pillars of Indonesia's G20 Presidency are the global health architecture, digital-based economic transformation, and energy transition.
At the press conference of the new version Infobmkg and the Multi-hazard Early Warning System (MHEWS) applications, Karnawati affirmed that the Infobmkg update presents special features that can be used by all participating G20 delegates.
"The Infobmkg features special information, such as hourly weather forecasts for all meeting locations in Bali and Labuan Bajo," she explained.
In addition, she said, there is information related to natural disasters, such as earthquakes, evacuation maps, and aviation weather, with satellite images and radar networks.
"All information is available in two languages, English and Indonesian," the BMKG Head remarked.
Furthermore, there are three new features, with the first being, the impact-based forecast up to the sub-district level.
The second feature pertains to satellite images and radar networks that allow users to monitor weather and cloud movement conditions in real-time, while the third is about the voice comment feature, supported by artificial intelligence (AI), which can help users obtain weather forecasts, earthquake information, and air quality through voice commands.
"This third innovation is specially prepared for users with special needs," Karnawati explained.
According to the BMKG head, 100-percent domestic component level (TKDN) was reached for the new Infobmkg app developed by BMKG's young staff.
On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan remarked that the Infobmkg G20 application is optimizing the implementation of the G20 Summit.
"This innovation aligns with the president's directive to use all the potential we have to bring security and comfort during the G20 Summit in Bali," he remarked.
