We want to demonstrate to the world that we are a great country, with richness in creative ideas for the world's future
An official of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics opined that Indonesia's G20 Presidency proffered several benefits for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the tourism sector in Indonesia.

"We want to demonstrate to the world that we are a great country, with richness in creative ideas for the world's future," the ministry's Director General of Information and Public Communication Usman Kansong stated during a webinar on G20 on Wednesday.

According to Kansong, the G20 Presidency has benefited the country in at least three aspects: Indonesia being promoted to foreign countries, economic recovery, and health recovery.

The official pointed out that Indonesia had prepped for at least 419 events during its G20 Presidency, with 183 main events organized in 25 cities and 236 side events.

Several G20 events will also host an exhibition of Indonesia-made products, with a digital exhibition on digital products made by domestic companies expected to be hosted in Bali, he remarked.

Promotion of Indonesian products during the G20 Presidency tenure will be economically advantageous, as the presidency is expected to bolster economic recovery by boosting domestic consumption to Rp7.1 trillion, and the national gross domestic product is also expected to rise to Rp7.4 trillion, he remarked.

Kansong noted that the G20 events' delegates, who have spent time in Indonesia and purchased domestic-made souvenirs might want to revisit Indonesia in future, thereby indirectly benefitting the tourism sector by ensuring potential customers in the future.

"The G20 events will indirectly benefit MSMEs," he noted.

The official affirmed that health protocols will be enforced and vaccination will be promoted in all G20 events to ensure delegates and residents participating in G20 events will stay healthy.
