Singer and actress Maudy Ayunda has been appointed as the government spokesperson for the G20 Presidency in a bid to reach millennials and Generation Z in Indonesia, Communication and Informatics Ministry spokesperson Dedy Permadi has informed.

Thus, Ayunda can complement the team of spokespersons that the government has formed.

The government has many important matters that need to be conveyed to the national and global community, so it saw the need for a team of spokespersons, Permadi said here on Friday.

Ayunda will not be alone in conveying information about the G20 Presidency because other representatives who are members of the spokesperson team will support each other, he added.

"Ayunda has become one of the many people who will help convey information to the Indonesian public and the world's public," he said.

Meanwhile, communication regarding crucial issues related to the general policies of the Indonesian government would be conveyed by other strategic officials such as secretary general of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Mira Tayyiba; Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati; Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo; Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartanto; and Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi.

He affirmed that the ministry is carrying out continual evaluations to improve the performance of the public communication team for Indonesia's G20 Presidency.

"We appreciate the inputs given by several parties for the Ministry of Communication and Informatics or the government in general. Of course, we will use them for evaluations," he remarked.

Earlier, Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate had announced Maudy Ayunda’s appointment as the government spokesperson for Indonesia's G20 Presidency, as part of an attempt to reach a broader audience, specifically members of the younger generation.

Ayunda studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University and obtained Master of Business Administration as well as Master of Arts in Education degrees from Stanford University.

The 27-year-old celebrity, who has over 15.5 million followers on Instagram, has been active in the world of entertainment from a young age.
