We must provide a peaceful future without war (to our younger generations).

The Youth 20 (Y20) must hold creative events to disseminate information about the four priority issues of the 2022 Y20 Summit to the public, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has said.

"(For instance) through social media, cool cinematic videos, or various events, which can encourage (public) interactions," he remarked at a virtual press conference on the implementation of the Y20 Summit on Saturday.

The Y20 is a forum for future young leaders from G20 countries for discussing and exchanging ideas regarding the agenda of the forum. The Y20 Summit will be held from July 17–24, 2022, in Jakarta and West Java provinces.

The four priority issues of the summit are youth employment, digital transformation, building a livable and sustainable planet, as well as diversity and inclusion.

The governor said he expects that the discussion on issues at the Y20 Summit will not be a mere formality.

He further said that he is ready to help promote the creative videos made by the organizing committee of the Indonesian 2022 Y20 through his social media accounts.

The West Java provincial government is fully supporting the 2022 Y20 Summit in terms of budget provision, coordination implementation, and venue preparation to ensure its success, he added.

For instance, the Asian-African Conference (KAA) Museum in Bandung city, West Java province, has been readied to host the summit, he noted.

“Bandung city and the KAA are well known by the global community as historical symbols of our fight against injustice (practices) due to colonialism," Kamil added.

He said that he is proud to be involved in the implementation of the summit.

"We must provide a peaceful future without war (to our younger generations). The four issues must be a concern," he added.

In addition to the West Java Governor, the press conference was attended by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as well as two co-chairs of the Indonesian 2022 Y20, Michael Victor Sianipar and Nurul Hidayatul Ummah.
