Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno along with Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan intensified preparations for the G20 Summit to be held in Bali in November this year.

"There are several main issues related to the G20, of course, (related to) the preparations of the program assigned to us as well as preparations for the G20 member countries and the three invited countries. These must get the best service, so we have to increase the preparations," Uno noted in a statement on Saturday, after a coordination meeting and field visit for the implementation of the G20 Presidency along with Pandjaitan.

On the occasion, the ministers reviewed the progress achieved in the construction of the VVIP terminal at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to facilitate access for guests of the G20 Presidency in November 2022.

“We reviewed the VVIP (arrangements), starting from the process of arrival of those from the country and its delegation to the hotel and activities. We have prepared all of this and have explained it earlier. It has reached the stage of 80-90 percent," Uno stated.

All infrastructure development work is expected to be completed in October 2022.

Actors of tourism and creative economy are ready to welcome the international event.

"Hence, in November, it is just finalization, and in preparing human resources, the capacity of these young people must be increased, so that our hospitality can be remembered well," Uno affirmed.

Uno said Minister Pandjaitan had praised Bali's hotel facilities that were considered to be better than last year's G20.

"The coordinating minister lauded the hotels in Bali, including The Laguna, which is currently undergoing renovation. He gives a score two levels better than Rome, Italy, which was the previous host of the G20," Uno stated.

The Indonesian G20 presidency offers an opportunity to facilitate discussions on digital-based global transformation, Communication and Information Technology Minister Johnny G. Plate earlier stated.

This was possible since several stakeholders from 20 countries, either from public or private sectors, could discuss about vital matters in a formal and free manner.

"The Indonesian Government has the honor to hold the G20 presidency as a means to (enable) dialogue between public and private stakeholders regarding important issues, including the digital-based transformation process that we are experiencing right now," Plate remarked.

In the midst of recovery of several sectors from the COVID-19 pandemic, one interesting aspect to discuss was innovation in digital technology, which could be made available for developing countries apart from developed nations.

In this situation, global market digitalization would lead to significant growth in a matter of years, he stated.

The ministry also spoke of a possible digital-based business expansion soon, with digital innovation being available.
