Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan called for all G20 Summit preparations to be completed by October 2022.

Pandjaitan made the statement on June 8 after having reviewed the location for the summit of the G20 Indonesian Presidency to be hosted next November in Bali.

"I seek collective cooperation to manage this event. I request for the (preparation of) G20 to be completed in the third or fourth of October. Everyone have to be involved and work hand-in-hand," the minister noted in a written statement on Saturday.

Pandjaitan reviewed the progress of work for development of the renewed Ngurah Rai Airport VVIP Terminal that will function as an aircraft parking lot and a place for arriving high-ranking state officials, who are part of Indonesia's G20 Presidency.

"Several developments are already underway, those being of the VVIP lounge terminal, beautification of the existing VVIP building, as well as beautification and revitalization of the airport terminal," he remarked.

The minister also urged the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry to immediately complete the construction of the Ngurah Rai Airport VVIP Terminal, so that the VVIP building could be operated at least by September 2022.

"We are trying to catch up (with the progress in development) for construction of the entire VVIP Terminal since it is only a matter of time for future state officials to arrive," he stated.

Pandjaitan thereafter immediately conducted a Coordination Meeting for the Implementation of the G20 Indonesia Presidency, which was attended by Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency Suharyanto, Chief of Presidential Staff Moeldoko, and representatives of the National defense force, Police force, and related ministries and institutions.

Preparations in terms of medical, infrastructure and logistics, protocol and security, and waste handling or management aspects were among the topics discussed at the meeting.

In terms of the medical aspect, all delegates will be tested to ensure that they had conducted COVID-19 vaccination. The government is also ready to provide care for those, who may be exposed, in order to ensure the implementation of strict health protocols.

In terms of protocol and security, he ordered the national defense force and police force to always coordinate, as security for heads of state from various countries was a crucial matter.

"There will be many heads of states participating. I urge the national defense force, police force, to coordinate actively. Most importantly, pay attention to the protocol and security of countries, such as the United States, the People's Republic of China (PRC), the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Russia. Every(thing) must be clear," he emphasized.

On the other hand, other infrastructure and logistics apart from the VVIP Terminal had also been prepared at other places. Some of these include transportation, roads, electricity networks to the Public Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU), and Garuda Wisnu Kencana.

He also reminded about waste management in several Integrated Waste Management Sites for Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPST 3R) in order to ensure waste could be processed and cleaned properly.
