At the second G20 Culture Senior Officials Meeting on Tuesday, July 19, the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry urged other countries to improve the state of arts and cultural affairs.
"Along with the delegates, the ministry compels the global community to work together and discuss further in seeking solutions to promote post-pandemic recovery of global cultural aspects," the director general of cultural affairs at the ministry, Himar Farid, stated through a press release received here on Thursday.
The second G20 Culture Senior Officials Meeting, conducted in a hybrid manner, encouraged the delegates to speak about two aspects: the plan to draft a ministerial-level declaration about cultural affairs as well as the Global Arts and Culture Recovery Fund initiative.
The fund initiative will be managed by an appointed United Nations agency that deals with education, science, and culture (UNESCO), and the funding will be directed to revitalize the cultural sectors of G20 countries.
Some 29 delegates from G20 member countries, guest countries, and UNESCO were present at the meeting. Some delegates responded positively to the fund initiative that will be discussed further at a technical meeting led by the Communication and Information Technology Ministry.
Farid noted that his administration commended the participation, discussion, and solutions raised by the delegations on either topic.
"We expect that together, we can implement a sustainable lifestyle and achieve global recovery, particularly in cultural affairs," he stated.

Several topics will be discussed further at the third G20 Culture Senior Officials Meeting on September 12, 2022, followed by the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Culture on September 13, 2022, in the Borobudur Area, Magelang, Central Java.
In the latter meeting, the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry will host some events, such as a cultural festival, grand meeting, G20 orchestra, and Ruwatan Bumi (saving the earth).
Over two thousand cultural figures and communities are estimated to participate in the cultural festival and grand meeting. On the other hand, musicians from G20 countries would take part in the orchestra.
