Participants of the Women 20 (W20) Summit remain committed to implementing the Toba Track that is the result of the conference, Indonesian Women's Congress' (Kowani's) Chairwoman Giwo Rubianto Wiyogo noted here on Friday.
The W20 is one of the engagement groups within Indonesia's G20 Presidency that forms the women's empowerment network to encourage the adoption of G20's commitment in women's issues.
The G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the presidency of the grouping this year.
Five issues are outlined in the Toba Track, Wiyogo remarked.
These issues comprise non-discrimination and equality; health response based on gender-oriented justice; micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) owned and led by women; empowerment of women villagers; and empowerment of women with disabilities.
"Most of the MSMEs in the country are owned and led by women. This needs to receive further attention," she emphasized.
Moreover, seven cross-sectoral areas have become the focus in increasing the impact of all recommendations from the W20 meeting.
These areas comprise policy, education, manpower participation and leadership, non-digital infrastructure, performance monitoring, and data transparency.
Wiyogo also expects that the communiqué produced in the summit will serve as a tool to advocate all G20 countries in supporting better empowerment of women.
The communiqué is expected to pave the way for further development of a fair and sustainable world based on freedom, peace, and social justice, specifically for G20 countries, she remarked.
The W20 Summit was held in Simalungun, North Sumatra, on July 19-21, 2022. The meeting produced a communiqué that was delivered to the Indonesian president as the G20 leader.
The meeting held at the shores of Lake Toba also marked the birth of the Toba Track, as a commitment from W20 to provide real action in women's empowerment.
