There are aspects related to the mobilization of resources. For instance, we encourage developed countries to lead. Some propose green sailing, but it would be difficult if it is a people's port. This continues to be negotiated
Indonesia will lead actions to save the earth at G20's Joint Environment and Climate Ministerial Meeting (JECMM) in Bali on August 31, 2022, with the aim of this step resulting in a joint agreement.

"We hope to produce a communiqué or an agreement. We are continuing to negotiate and rally support from countries. We continue to emphasize that Indonesia can be trusted," Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar stated here on Saturday.

Citing information from the G20 website, the Joint Environment and Climate Ministers’ Meeting (JECMM) will be preceded by the Third Meeting of the Environment Deputies Meeting and Climate Sustainability (3rd EDM-CSWG) on August 29-30, 2022.

Bakar drew attention to three issues that Indonesia will spotlight at the G20 Environment and Climate Ministerial Meeting: support for sustainable global recovery, improvement of environmental protection actions, and collaboration between countries for resource mobilization to accelerate environmental protection actions and address climate change.

She admitted that reaching a mutual agreement is not easy, as each country has its own values and interests.

"There are aspects related to the mobilization of resources. For instance, we encourage developed countries to lead. Some propose green sailing, but it would be difficult if it is a people's port. This continues to be negotiated," she remarked.

Bakar emphasized that the G20 forum can serve as a platform for Indonesia to prove, both domestically and globally, that the country can lead actions to save the earth.

"The important aspect about this agenda is that Indonesia is leading. There is a space where we actualize Indonesia to the best," she remarked.

Furthermore, later, the agreement resulting from the meeting will be delivered to the Head-of-State-level meeting for further discussion.

G20's Environment and Climate Ministerial Meeting will take place in Nusa Dua, Bali, where 18 environment and climate ministers and deputy ministers will show up in addition to over 200 delegates that will also attend in person.
