Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Wednesday reviewed the construction of the Kesiman Kertalangu Integrated Waste Management Facility (TPST) to ensure waste management in Bali ahead of the G20 Summit.
"As the chairperson of the (2022) G20 Presidency Organizing Committee, an important aspect which I want to show the delegates later is the cleanliness of the Island of the Gods (Bali Island) as the host (of the event)," he said in a post on his social media account @luhut.pandjaitan on Wednesday.
Furthermore, he also reviewed the development of Tahura and Padang Sambian TPSTs.

Around 40 percent of the machines at waste management facilities are still imported since, until now, Indonesia has not developed integrated waste management technology, he noted.
Hence, the coordinating minister asked the related ministries and agencies to continue developing machines with the same technology domestically.
"It is planned that the factory for the machines will be (built) in Solo city, Central Java province, thus, in future, waste processing in the other 52 TPSTs, which will be built throughout Indonesia, will use domestically-made machines," he informed.

He also asked all parties to participate in reducing waste and maintaining cleanliness in Indonesia.
"I also asked Udayana University to contribute by conducting scientific research on the study of separating wet and dry waste," he added.
In addition, Pandjaitan said he expected the TPSTs to produce recycled products so that the facilities are economically beneficial for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the surrounding community.
As the 2022 G20 Summit approaches, Indonesia will become increasingly busy preparing for the event, he added.
"I expect that in October or November, Bali will become cleaner and there will be less trash in the sea, hopefully, there will be no garbage floating in all waters surrounding Bali Island," he said.
