The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has called for the participation of the youth in efforts to realize clean energy.

"Now is the time for you, the young generation, to support the clean energy acceleration program, especially for our country," said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, at the Energy Transition Youth Forum organized by the Energy Transition Working Group (ETWG) in Yogyakarta on Friday.

The world is currently concerned about the potential impact of climate change, he added. Hence, efforts need to be made to improve the environment and prevent global warming.

The use of energy that produces carbon emissions can be reduced to control climate change so that global warming can be prevented.

To reduce carbon emissions, Tasrif urged the youth to create innovations to accelerate the energy transition to new and renewable energy so that the increase in carbon emissions can be controlled.

Indonesia, he said, has abundant energy resources, including new and renewable energy. To optimize their utilization, Minister Tasrif sought the participation of the young generation in exploring new and renewable energy resources originating from the local area.

"So, the younger generation must be able to do creative activities so that in the future they can make a bigger contribution," he added.

Besides encouraging youth participation in realizing clean energy, Tasrif also emphasized the need for the young generation to use domestic products, including energy sources originating from the country.

To optimize the use of domestic energy sources, Tasrif invited the young generation to identify and explore existing potential so it will make it easier for people to access clean energy.

"We need to encourage young people to identify existing new and renewable energy sources so that the identification results can be used as a database for us to build energy infrastructure and provide wider access for the community," said the minister.
