Udayana University (Unud) Hospital in Badung District, Bali Province, strives to improve its human resources and facilities since being assigned as a referral hospital for implementation of the 2022 G20 Summit.

"We have made preparations in terms of 76 specialist doctors, 127 paramedics, and several residents to be involved in the 2022 G20 Summit," General Director of Unud Hospital Dewa Made Sukrama stated when confirmed in Denpasar on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the readied infrastructure comprise the intensive care unit (ICU), VIP ICU, treatment rooms, and emergency rooms that were kept separate for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients, he remarked.

Sukrama stated that the hospital was ready to function as a referral hospital for the 2022 G20 Summit. Currently, no obstacles are being encountered in preparing for the event.

He expressed optimism that COVID-19 cases would no longer surge, so the 2022 G20 activities can run smoothly to offer multiplier effects to bolster Bali’s economic recovery.

Prior to preparing for the 2022 G20 Summit, Unud Hospital had developed a travel medicine center and medical tourism services.

Hence, currently, all polyclinic services, outpatient services, inpatient care units, and intensive care units have been operated not only to treat local residents but also foreign tourists.

"We also ready a laboratory that is equipped with five PCR machines. In addition, we provide antigen swab tests," the hospital main director noted.

Earlier, two officials of the Health Ministry, Asral Hasan and Ratih Dwi Lestari, had visited the hospital to review the preparedness of Unud Hospital ahead of the 2022 G20 Summit.

They were accompanied by several officers of the Bali Provincial Health Office as well as Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment.

“During the visit, the officers have reviewed our facilities and infrastructure. We have also explained the flow of our medical treatment to them," Sukrama added.

Sukrama made assurance that the hospital will be ready to offer any emergency medical treatment if required.

The 2022 G20 Summit is scheduled to be held on November 15-16, 2022.
